Matthew discussed the latest threat from Islamic State with Sky News

Following the discovery of Islamic state training videos highlighting IS's ability to reverse engineer sophisticated munitions Matthew discussed the implications for Western policy with Sky News.

Commenting on the Islamic State videos Matthew said that "Whilst we have to take the potential of Islamic State to deploy advanced munitions (like surface to air miles) in the West seriously the threat is likely to remain low level attacks using commerical explosives and illegally aquired firearms like the Paris attacks."

He went on to say "Much of this kind of material is about the Islamic state competing for jihadi followers, like Al-Qaeda before it, Islamic State produces online content that purport to be training materials but are actually more about demonstrating IS's prowess. Actually constructing bombs without access to military fuses, timers or commercial explosives is difficult to do without hands on training or direct experience."
